6 to 12volt converter for Sat-navs and phones
My old sat-nav worked fine on 6 volts but I have just updated to a better sat-nav and it doesn't like the 6 volts[Image: huh.gif]. I can't remember but feel sure that someone posted that there was a unit for 6 volt cars to be able to charge phones or use sat-navs needing 12volts. A name and where they are available would be much appreciated[Image: smile.gif].

My daughter managed to fine lots of DC to USB step down converters on ebay. They cope with anything from 6 to 40V DC and output 5V 3A to dual USB ports.
They are very inexpensive too at about £2-3 + P&P depending on if you are willing to wait for postage from China or not.

Hi Dave,
Not sure if this helps, but I've been using 6 volts (or closer to 8 volts when running) to charge both my cellphone and an older Garmin nuvi model GPS.  I'm using an item like the one shown below.  Hooked all three units in parallel to the generator side of the ammeter terminal.
